Stateside Success – How Eyeful USA Is Challenging The Status Quo

Tuesday, April 30th, 2013

Things are very much on the up for our Eyeful USA team

After a relatively quiet 2012, this year has seen them break all manner of records with new and existing customers rushing to work with the team on an array of exciting projects.  Whilst obviously delighted that so many US based companies have taken the opportunity to embrace our ‘Presentation Optmization’ methodology, we’re also a little curious as to what has happened to prompt such an increase in interest.

UK Presentation Experts Expand into Russia

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

As one of the World’s leading presentation specialists, Eyeful Presentations is proud to announce the opening of new offices in Kaliningrad, Russia.

Based in leafy Leicestershire, Eyeful Presentations has always had a truly international flavour. The Russian office is joining their established international offices in the US and The Netherlands ensuring improved accessibility for their fast growing global customer base.

Simon Morton, MD, has this to say:

“We’re really excited to be introducing our skills to such a rapidly growing market. There is a real energy in Russian business at the moment, they are eager to import the best products and services that the world has to offer and we’re happy to help!

In fact I’ve already been out to one of Russia’s top business schools in response to an invite that arrived even before our official launch and spoken to them about our experience, ideas and plans for the Russian market.

Eyeful Presentations has always been at the forefront of breaking new ground when it comes to presentations and we’ve never been afraid to venture into new territories either.

Having already worked with Russian companies including LiteForex and Re&Solutions Management and the UK office of Gazprom, we know that our Presentation Optimisation methodology travels well, with the power of storytelling transcending language barriers.”

Kristina Sagneeva will be in charge of the Russian office and is excited about what Eyeful can do to help Russian business:

“Russian businesses are just beginning to understand that their presentations need to reflect their business by being quality communications in their own right. Eyeful is giving Russian businesses the same high level of presentations that their international competitors already enjoy.”

Since 2004 Eyeful Presentations has grown from a one man band to a global team of specialist consultants and designers, proving that it is possible to overcome the global economic downturn. So how has this been achieved? According to Simon it’s actually quite simple

“We do what we do really well, we always go the extra mile for our customers and we never forget to enjoy ourselves.”

A Presidential Presentation Paradox

Friday, January 27th, 2012

There has been some controversy surrounding Barrack Obama’s decision to include a PowerPoint presentation in the enhanced version of his annual State Of The Union address.

Opinions on the success of this new approach vary wildly but there are a few key themes that are recurring in online forums.

Everybody loved the PacMan slide but not everyone can remember exactly what it was illustrating. Was the retro feel intentional? And should the PowerPoint really have been included at all?

Whatever your point of view on these ‘hot topics’, the gang here at Eyeful would like to formally thank the President of the United States for ably demonstrating The Presentation Paradox.

The Presentation Paradox occurs when the majority of the available resource has been exhausted before the actual presentation is even considered. In this case, the available time and money was apparently spent on the team of advisors and speech writers who worked with Obama to prepare the content.

The end result is that the visual presentation designer  is left to make the best of what was left.  In short, it all feels a little rushed and not quite up to the job…

Also, not content with helping us illustrate The Presentation Paradox, the whole shebang is also in danger of falling into another presenting pitfall – the enhanced presentation version ran the risk of being overshadowed by the presentation design (or lack thereof)! Heresy!

So President Obama, for services in demonstrating how important thinking visually throughout the entire presentation process is, we salute you!

Get an Eyeful of this….

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

With all due pomp and ceremony – including raising a glass of the nearest alcoholic beverage – our new Eyeful Presentations website has been launched into the ether.

All the great stuff from the old site along with the best of our expertise and innovation can now be found in one magnificently organised, sexily presented, artfully reworded, super-duper spiffing new site.

And in case you haven’t worked it out we’re quite excited!

At Eyeful we spend so much time working on making things great for our customers that we sometimes forget to blow our own trumpet.  Our (ever so slightly early) New Years Resolution is that we will be employing an entire brass section to let the world know what we’re up to in 2012 – so watch this space for future developments.

In the meantime please feel free to have a good nosey around and if you think we’ve missed anything get in touch and let us know!

A glimpse into the future of PowerPoint..?

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

Discussion boards and presentation geeks the world over have been getting themselves into a tizzy with an alleged glimpse into the future of PowerPoint – TILES.

The furore all started when Eyeful’s penpal Steve Ballmer stood up and presented the exciting plans Microsoft have for Skype and Office 365.  A slow but sure murmur spread across the audience – “cool slides!”.

This is not normal at a Microsoft event.

Here’s what all the fuss is about:

Using the tile style animation seen on Windows Mobile devices, Steve was able to deliver information and comment in a clear and simple manner.

Jolly good.

Whilst we’re equally impressed with the new approach (here’s hoping it’s a standard feature in the next version of PowerPoint), we’re more excited about what this says about Microsoft’s approach to the software.

To us, it’s an example of Microsoft stepping up to the plate and taking some responsibility for PowerPoint.

It’s CSR in action – not in a “let’s make sure the software doesn’t crash or leave you open to security risks” way but in a “we’ll do everything we can to make the presentation experience more effective for the audience” way.

But let’s not get over excited!

The TILES approach is a simple way of improving the effectiveness of PowerPoint but the onus will always be on the presenter to make it really work.

That said, it’s a start…  Nice one, Steve.

PS – If you like the TILE animation but can’t wait for the next version of PowerPoint to arrive, drop us a line or give us a call.  We’ve been doing this for a while now!

A day in the life of…The Eyeful Designer

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

Welcome back to the latest in our series of “A day in the life of…” blogs, hopefully giving you an insight into the wild, wacky, crazy and (sometimes) professional and busy life of the team here at Eyeful Towers.

This time round it’s the turn of one of our prestigious design team.  So please be upstanding to and welcome Claire and her “typical” day:

Cartoon Claire

I’m afraid the old cliché of “no two days are ever the same” tends to apply to most of us here at Eyeful.  Possibly the strangest thing I’ll be doing first thing in the morning will be gargling with my tea!

I’ve recently found myself appearing as a “corporate voice” used by our sister company Earful Productions quite often I’ll find myself having to record some audio of a morning so need to ensure the vocal chords are in tip top shape. Not sure it’s what works for the likes of Adele but it seems to work for me.

Other than laying down some “phat audio”, my mornings tend to be a fair mixture of dealing with any amendments that have come in overnight or early doors, similarly problem solving on any issues that have arisen that need attention and looking at any new work that is ready for us to get cracking on with.

All three of these bring some interesting challenges and whilst I love to solve a problem, what really is exciting is getting to grips with something new that is to some extent a blank canvas.

As the majority of our work comes off the back of an Eyeful Presentation Optimisation workshop, I’ll typically start off with working from a storyboard (if you’re a regular reader you’ll be used to reading about these!) which gives me a flavour of what the customer is trying to convey to their audience.

It’s a matter of taking this core content and then working towards designs that will not only help to convey this message successfully but will also make the audience sit up and take notice. This is often a challenge but one that never fails to get the creative juices flowing.

As I spend a lot of my time in software such as Photoshop and Illustrator, I do like to spend some of my time keeping up with the fast moving world of design and PowerPoint.  As such, a good post lunch task is research into the cutting edge oDesignf PowerPoint and other websites/software that can help us to continue to push the boundaries of presentations.

It’s something that Eyeful prides itself on and we’re certainly a key part of not only delivering these presentations but helping us and our clients to understand just what amazing things can be done with good old PowerPoint.

As the resident social secretary (not sure how I got that job…!) some of my time is spent trying to persuade the rest of the team that our next outing should involve jumping out of an aeroplane with only a large sheet and some string (or that’s how Simon describes it). Failing that it might just be a good old fashioned visit to the pub!

A large amount of my time will be spent dealing with all of the team here - Project Managers and Consultants alike.  It’s a corny line but one of the reasons that being here at Eyeful is so much fun is that the team are great to work with.

As a designer I can get a bit drawn off into my own world, but rest assured my colleagues soon bring me back!

Giving Eyeful USA a voice!

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

One of the many New Years Resolutions I made a couple of days back was to ensure that our Blog included contributions from all parts of the business.

Now regular readers will know stepping aside and letting someone else wax lyrical about presentations doesn’t come naturally to me but I’m willing to give it a go (it’ll certainly be an easier resolution to keep than the whole weight loss thing…but that’s another story).

US FlagSo it’s with great pleasure that I hand the mic (quite literally) over to Mike Lowstetter, big cheese from Eyeful USA

In this short Podcast, Mike talks through the ever evolving US market, his plans for Eyeful going forward and the impact we’ve had the likes of Citibank, Phillips and Bristol Myers Squibb.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

He’s very good, isn’t he..?

To hear more from Mike in person (blimey - I sound like his agent now...), check out details of Hook: The Presentation Conference.  It’s happening in Nashville in March and features a plethora of inspiring, exciting and downright challenging speakers.

But more of that later…
