We’ve launched a dedicated CPD Presentations service

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

We get involved in all manner of presentation projects.

From the high octane big pitch presentations (normally in conjunction with our partners, Sales Engine) through to slides for speaking engagements for authors and the like  (we’re in the thick of a project for a woman who climbed Everest at the age of 22…amazing story but more on that at a later date).

One particular type of presentation that seems to get our customers in a fluster is that of the CPD or Continuing Professional Development presentation.  There’s no getting away from it – these presentations are fraught with complexity and pitfalls.

But why?

The answer is pretty straightforward.  A CPD presentation needs to tread a very fine line:

It needs to be independent enough to satisfy the CPD assessors (they don’t want the CPD process to be a thinly veiled sales exercise) BUT have enough commercial content to keep the marketing department of the Provider happy (after all, it costs money to send people out to deliver these presentations!).  On top of all this, it needs to grab the attention of the audience who may just be there to pick up their CPD points and grab a free sandwich.

Like we say, it can get very complex…

The good news is that we’ve got ourselves a bit of a reputation for getting the balance just right with clients like Corus, Rockfon, SIG and Altro now equipping their CPD specialists with top notch presentations.

So pleased are we with the way things have panned out over the last couple of years that we’ve created a dedicated service just for CPD presentations.

We believe we’re the only company out there with a dedicated CPD specialist (the aforementioned vagaries of CPD presentations mean that this is pretty much a must in our opinion).  He’s called Roy and he’s very very good.

As part of the rollout of this specialised service, we’ve created a separate CPD section on our website.

For more details of the service, interviews with existing CPD provider customers and information on how to contact our CPD specialist expert, please click here or head on over to www.cpd-presentations.co.uk.

Repurposing PowerPoint – We May Have Mentioned This Once Or Twice…

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

If you’re a regular reader of the Eyeful Blog, you’ll be aware that we get very animated (excuse the pun) when it comes to getting the most out of your PowerPoint.

Panic not!

This is not some clumsy, heavy-handed way of selling our wares.  If you’re a regular here, you’ll know all about the wonders of Presentation Optimisation, the glowing testimonials of our ever-growing customer base and the magic we can weave with the most basic of presentations.  Let’s not get into that now…

Nope – we’re talking about Repurposing PowerPoint.  Taking the hard work you’ve put into creating your masterpiece in PowerPoint and repackaging it for other mediums.

From PowerPoint to Podcast…to video…to interactive PDF…and finally to web presentation.  The choice is yours.

To help explain how this works and the options available to you, we thought we’d repurpose one of our own presentations originally developed for a RIBA conference.

This video was embedded using the YouTuber plugin by Roy Tanck. Adobe Flash Player is required to view the video.

It’s a case study in it’s own right…

Nice people saying nice things – Peak Software

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun?

It seems like only yesterday that we celebrated our 5th Birthday…in reality it was back in October.

It doesn’t seem like 5 minutes ago since we moved to our fancy new offices, Eyeful Towers…in reality, it was back in April.

And it feels like we’ve just started working with the good people at Peak Software…in reality, it’s been over 3 years.

Peak Software FramedDuring that time, we’ve worked on any number of fun and engaging projects with Clive and his team, from audio packed product launch PowerPoints through to HTML Flash conversions

As with any relationship, we’ve worked hard to keep it fresh by offering new ideas and maintaining an enthusiasm for each new project.

We’ve enjoyed every minute of it and it would seem Clive is of the same opinion…  To learn more, listen on.

We’re extremely grateful to the hundreds of you who took the time to complete it - your feedback and experiences have provided an amazing insight into how businesses approach presentations in 2010.

The task now ahead of us is to process the hundreds of responses and draw insight from them.  And then, as promised, we’d like to share the results and analysis with you.

  • PPT iconSo is Death by PowerPoint really killing businesses?
  • Are new cloud-based applications like Slide Rocket and Prezi having an impact?
  • Does Apple’s Keynote software hold the key to a better presentation experience?
  • And are companies changing their approach to business presentations in line with their social media and online strategies?

All these questions and more will be answered in our webinars on the 3rd August (UK & Europe here and US & Canada here).

We have limited spaces so please click here to register for one of the following events to ensure you have a front row seat as we share the results, provide the latest insight and offer analysis of how businesses really view presentations:

A day in the life of… The Presentation Consultant

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Welcome to the second blog taking a closer look at the team here at Eyeful. Having cast our eye over our Project Manager and their highly organised and efficient ways, this time it’s the turn of the Presentation Consultant

As an integral part of our Presentation Optimisation methodology, the role of Presentation Consultant is biggie here at Eyeful.

As the name suggests, our Consultants are actually here to help our customers by understanding what they need and helping to shape the way we deliver it.  Here’s Jo to tell us about an exciting 24 hours:

Jo - FramedI’m rolling out the clichés early here, I know, but no two days are ever really the same both because of the role I do as Consultant but also because of the way we work here at Eyeful. I’ll try, however, to take you through a “typical” day!

Most of my days are spent out and about on site with clients – but in an effort to remain as sheep-like as the rest of them, I start my day with a check through my Blackberry.

As I tend to deal with a number of customers at any one time the early part of the morning will normally involve talking to a good few before I get onsite.

Picking up on any work that needs to be fed back to the studio or speaking to a client who has something urgent can quite often take up the time before beginning a client engagement for the day – and I’ll normally have spoken to one or all of our Project Managers back in the office before 9am!

Once onsite, I really get into making a difference.  It’s the time spent talking to customers and helping take their ideas and shape them into something that will become really impressive that’s gets me up in the morning.

A lot of my time is spent storyboarding with people – something I know we bang on about at Eyeful but I can’t emphasise how important it is. No story can be properly told unless you understand it first.

Jo Meeting - FramedA lot of my days are spent solely on site with our customers – but some afternoons I get the opportunity to be in the office (joy for me, although the office might not agree).

This always gives me a chance to get some time with our Project Managers and designers and to see the real work getting done for our clients!

Whilst every day might be different – most days end with any number of calls from clients and colleagues alike and more often than not one from Simon himself who got himself thoroughly overexcited about a new client or an extra innovative design the studio has produced.

One thing is for sure – Eyeful and it’s customers don’t allow for dull days!

Nice people saying nice things – Ordnance Survey

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Of the many remarkable things that have happened here at Eyeful over the last 12 months, surely the most remarkable is Simon’s new enthusiasm for hiking.

It would seem he’s never happier than when scaling hills, equipped with an overly generous supply of Kendal Mint Cake and an Ordnance Survey map.

Ordnance SurveySo imagine his excitement when we were approached by Ordnance Survey to work with them on one of their CPD presentations

This excitement hit fever pitch when we heard how successful the presentation had been on it’s first outing.

Here’s Ordnance Survey’s Gary McDonald to explain all:

Ordnance Survey Testimonial

So there you go, Ordnance Survey scaling new heights with their new presentation from Eyeful (and we promise that’s the last hiking pun we use…honest).

Face time…well, the next best thing

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

We like to think we’re a pretty social group here at Eyeful Presentations.

We also like to think we’ve taken to the new world of social media pretty well in the last 5 years as well enabling our customers, friends and future customers to engage in whatever way they think is best.

Facebook icon - framed

To complete the picture we’ve now set up our very own Facebook group – pop along to www.eyefulpresentations.co.uk/facebook to have a look around.

So if you’re the sort to dip into Facebook when you have a spare five minutes, please come and join us!  We’ll keep you to up to date with all that is exciting (no, really) in the world of presentations as well as what we’re up to at Eyeful.

Farewell Brainstorm Barn, Hello Eyeful Towers

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Against the general flow of things in our market, here at Eyeful we’ve continued to grow in terms of customers, people and geography.  In short, it’s an exciting and fun place to work.

One of the drawbacks of growth is that fact that we keep running out of space.  According to a recent team survey, sitting on each other’s laps becomes a touch impractical (and in some peoples view not conducive to a good days work).

So we’ve upped sticks and moved to a fancy new office just down the road.  Not only does it give us room to grow and further spread our wings, we’ve been able to make our client workshop area even better!

Eyeful Towers - Comfy Sofas-Workshop AreaIf you’re after an environment to spark the imagination and fire up the presentation creativity, this is it (oh, and the coffee and biscuits are very nice too).

So clients and interested parties alike – don’t be a stranger!  Give us a call and book some time to meet up with us at our lovely new offices (affectionately named Eyeful Towers).

A day in the life of…The Project Manager

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Welcome to the first in a series of occasional blogs from of our esteemed team here at Eyeful Presentations.

Kicking things off  is “A day in the life of a Project Manager”. Taking time to climb out of Gantt charts and telling everyone else what they should be doing (and not making enough tea, it has to be said…), here is Vicki to take us through a pretty normal (or as normal as they get at Eyeful) day.

Vicki - Framed 1As a Project Manager, my life is pretty ordered so I rise at 0600 hours leaving the left hand side of the bed and brushing my teeth 47 times horizontally and then 48 times vertically… Sorry only messing, most people I meet who I tell I’m a Project Manager have an image of an anally retentive control freak that is never without a fold out Gantt chart. Whilst that’s not too far from the truth (you have to be and who doesn’t love Gantt charts…) it’s also not completely true.

My day typically starts with catching up with e-mails (as most of our days do!) – as “the hub” of a project, I need to keep on top of all that is going on. With clients all over the world now, quite a lot can happen when I’m not at my desk so that first hour or so can be vital to setting up the day and to taking some projects into the next phase.

Also early in the day I’ll take a good look at the studio schedule for the day to make sure that we’re doing the right work and make sure this is in line with the most time critical work.

The rest of my morning would then normally be taken up with talking to our consultants (someone’s got to). Those conversations are varied, vast and normally interesting – I know a lot of organisations moan about a disconnect between sales and operations but fortunately here at Eyeful we’re pretty well integrated and most of the time the consultants behave (it’s only occasionally I have to smack them…).

Vicki - Framed 2In the afternoon I’ll normally have a lot of client contact, particularly at the moment as I’m working on a rather substantial project for a large US banking client and need to speak to London and New York at the same time.  Whilst our US friends are normally early risers, that still tends to be late for us!

A lot of time is also spent briefing our designers on work that is either new or coming back in for additional work. All in all the afternoon is pretty hectic and seems to fly by, and normally I’m allowed to go home but some days you never know.

And when I’ve finally returned home, one last check of the Gantt chart to make sure I’ve laid out the right socks for tomorrow and its time for bed (getting in the right side of course).
